About the position

Vantive, a new company emerging from Baxter's Kidney Care segment, is on a mission to provide best-in-class care in the kidney care space. As a Principal Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the design, verification, and documentation of electronic circuits for medical devices. This position requires a blend of theoretical knowledge and hands-on skills, making it essential for candidates to be self-starters who can navigate both the design and practical aspects of engineering. You will be involved in various projects that aim to revolutionize kidney care and support vital organ functions, contributing to meaningful work that impacts patients' lives worldwide. In this role, you will be responsible for performing design tasks, including schematic capture and layout of electronic circuits tailored for medical device applications. You will design and prototype digital systems, which may include microprocessors, FPGAs, and other supporting digital circuits. Additionally, you will work on analog circuit designs, focusing on audio, instrumentation, and optical circuits, as well as high-speed signal lines that require advanced transmission line techniques. Your mathematical analysis skills will be vital in evaluating circuit designs, and you will also be responsible for generating PCBA build files and conducting bench-level testing and verification. Collaboration is key in this position, as you will work closely with contract manufacturers to ensure that the PCBA design packages meet manufacturability and yield requirements. You will also address component end-of-life and procurement issues, ensuring that all design documentation is thorough and accurate. Responsibilities

  • Perform design, schematic capture, and layout of electronic circuits for medical device use.
  • Design and prototype digital systems including microprocessors, FPGAs, and other supporting digital circuits.
  • Design analog circuits, including audio, instrumentation, and optical circuits.
  • Design high-speed signal lines involving transmission line techniques.
  • Conduct mathematical analysis of circuit designs.
  • Input schematic capture, including component selection.
  • Implement layout, including routing PCBs.
  • Generate PCBA build files, including BOMs, Gerbers, assembly, and fab drawings.
  • Conduct bench-level testing and verification.
  • Collaborate with contract manufacturers to deliver PCBA design packages that meet manufacturability and yield requirements.
  • Solve component end-of-life and procurement issues.
  • Document design requirements, design analysis, and design descriptions.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering or related field and 5+ years of experience, or M.S. and 3+ years of experience.
  • 3+ years' experience designing digital, analog, and mixed signal circuits.
  • Experience with schematic capture.
  • PCB implementation experience, including performing and/or overseeing layout and generating PCBA build files.
  • Board level debug and diagnosis experience using oscilloscopes, power supplies, DMMs, and other bench test equipment.
  • Experience in board level design verification.
  • Experience in digital and analog circuit modeling.
  • Design for manufacturing/manufacturability experience.
  • Experience in design documentation, including design requirements, design analysis, and design descriptions.
