About the position

As a Field Application Engineer at Marvell, you will play a crucial role in understanding and addressing customer needs within the semiconductor solutions space. Your primary responsibility will be to analyze customer design requirements and provide valuable feedback to the engineering team, ensuring that our innovative technology aligns with market demands. You will work closely with the sales team to drive key designs featuring Marvell Ethernet PHYs, leveraging your technical expertise to support customer success. In this position, you will review customer schematics and layouts, engage in hands-on bring-up and debugging of customer boards, and provide troubleshooting support both remotely and on-site. Your ability to understand the customer application environment will be essential as you assist in lab and field trials, offering insightful advice on customer products. You will also support the engineering team in device and system-level testing, contributing to the collective effort of product development. Additionally, you will be responsible for providing technical training to Marvell Sales Engineers, Distributor Field Applications Engineers, and key customers on Marvell PHY products. Collaboration will be key as you work cross-functionally with silicon development, system validation, and marketing teams to define next-generation products and solutions. You will develop technical collateral materials, including application notes, user guides, release notes, and white papers, to support the sales team in delivering effective technical presentations and statements of work that align with client business requirements. Building relationships with key decision-makers and serving as an external technical spokesperson will be vital to your success in this role. You will also provide customer feedback to executive and development teams, contributing to the functionality roadmap of our products. This position requires national travel of approximately 15% of the time to support clients effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Understand customer's target markets and analyze design requirements.

  • Provide remote or on-site troubleshooting for customer technical issues.
  • Support customer lab/field trials and understand customer application environments.
  • Assist the engineering team in device and system-level testing.
  • Provide technical training to Marvell Sales Engineers and key customers on Marvell PHY products.
  • Collaborate with silicon development, system validation, and marketing teams to define next-generation products.

  • Prepare and deliver technical presentations and statements of work for the sales team.
  • Create relationships with key decision makers and serve as an external technical spokesperson.

Requirements

  • Master's or foreign equivalent degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Information Systems Engineering, Computer Science/Engineering, or a related field.
  • Three (3) years of experience in the job offered or related occupation.
  • Experience providing pre-sale presentations to customers.
  • Experience working with marketing teams to evaluate customer system designs.
  • Experience with infrastructure networking such as Switch and Router systems.
  • Experience with Ethernet L2, L3, and L4 layers.
  • Experience with High-Speed Optical Modules.
  • Experience with Switch and Copper PHY products.
  • Experience using lab equipment including high-speed oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and traffic generators.
  • Experience with C/Python and microcode programming.
