About the position

The Principal Engineer (I&C Design) will support a federal government client in Aiken, SC, focusing on providing design engineering staff augmentation. This role involves defining the scope of technical programs, developing quality solutions to complex challenges, and providing leadership in engineering analysis and design development. The engineer will be responsible for creating various design output documents and ensuring compliance with client processes and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Define scope of technical programs and develop effective, quality solutions to challenges.
• Provide leadership in determining solutions to complex problems and be recognized as an expert in technical areas.
• Evaluate results of programs and prepare reports and recommendations based on evaluations.
• Develop schedules, monitor progress, and review quality of work performed.
• Communicate results and objectives verbally and in written form to customers, colleagues, and management.
• Provide design engineering staff augmentation support to SRNS, including engineering analysis and design development.

Requirements

• Ten (10) years of direct I&C design experience in the nuclear or process chemical industry within the last 15 years.
• Design experience with process control instrumentation, PLCs, and distributed control systems.
• Proficiency in using MicroStation 2D Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CADD) software.
• Ability to perform weekly field walk-downs of job sites, including construction sites with uneven surfaces.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE 'Q' security clearance.
• Ph.D. in applicable science or engineering discipline with 5+ years' experience, or MS with 8+ years' experience, or BS with 10+ years' experience.

Nice-to-haves

• Possession of an active DOE clearance (L or Q) within the past two years.
• Previous SRS Design Engineering or DOE facility experience.
• Delta V Experience.
