About the position

As a Principal Engineer II on the Lab Architecture Services Team at Spectrum, you will play a crucial role in driving the rapid development, integration, and validation of Spectrum products and services. This position involves providing proactive support for architecture and environment builds, managing support efforts, overseeing integration testing, and delivering engineering services for Charter's engineering initiatives. You will also engage in project management aspects, coordinating lab infrastructure buildouts, tracking project timelines, and ensuring deliverables meet both technical and business requirements. Your expertise will enable you to troubleshoot complex issues and contribute to cross-functional discussions, ultimately enhancing the quality of customer experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide proactive support for architecture and environment builds.
  • Manage support efforts and oversee integration testing as needed.
  • Deliver engineering services for Charter's engineering initiatives.
  • Coordinate lab infrastructure buildouts and track project timelines.
  • Ensure deliverables meet both technical and business requirements.
  • Create system and application-level designs that align lab environments with overall architectural solutions.
  • Oversee the build-out of lab infrastructure, assisting with installation and setup across multiple teams.
  • Design and implement automation solutions to streamline lab operations and increase efficiency.
  • Work closely with development, testing, and lab teams to ensure smooth communication and coordination.
  • Provide ongoing support to Lab Engineers and Test teams, analyzing lab performance and recommending optimizations.
  • Advocate for best practices in lab design, implementation, and testing.

Requirements

  • 10-15+ years of engineering work experience.
  • 10-15+ years of project management work experience.
  • Master's or Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field or related work experience.
  • Extensive understanding of software source control tools such as GitLab.
  • Advanced knowledge of industry specifications and standards (IEEE, ANSI, etc.).
  • Advanced knowledge in TCP/IP and the OSI Model.
  • Advanced knowledge in using ticketing and software tools to support operations.
  • Advanced knowledge of network devices and basic network appliances.
  • Advanced knowledge of network designing software, such as Visio.
  • Advanced knowledge in network design, architecture, protocols, and topology.

Nice-to-haves

  • Advanced Knowledge of company products and services.
  • Subject Matter Expert in at least 1 line of business (Video, Voice, Data, Mobile, WiFi).
  • Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE).
  • DEVOPS Certifications.
  • Industry and vendor specific certifications and training (AWS, Google Public Cloud, etc.).
