About the position

Ibotta is seeking a Principal Engineer in Machine Learning & Data to join the Enablement Tools organization. This role focuses on advancing tooling capabilities in the Machine Learning and Data space, driving technical strategy, and mentoring engineering teams. The position is hybrid, requiring three days in the Denver office, and aims to shape the future direction of key capabilities while upholding Ibotta's core values.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the advancement of Enablement Tooling capabilities as a Strategic Technical Advisor with a focus on Machine Learning and Data.
  • Develop proofs of concept, new tools, and integration methods in the ML and Data space.
  • Motivate teams, influence others, and coach engineers and engineering leaders.
  • Join special projects through coding, guiding, and mentoring to ensure sound architectural implementation.
  • Establish architecture vision, principles, and patterns in alignment with the Architecture Team.
  • Collaborate with engineering leaders and Staff+ engineers to inform the technical strategy and roadmap.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in software development.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field required.
  • Fundamental knowledge of object-oriented software design, development, and architectural principles.
  • Knowledge of Machine Learning and Data principles, techniques, architectures, and methods.
  • Proven track record of success as a senior technical leader and coach/mentor to junior engineers.
  • Expertise in high-level decisions around object-oriented software design and architectural principles.
  • Effective in leading others collaboratively to deliver a common vision.
  • Deep understanding of development best practices including security, compliance, performance, optimization, and reliability.
  • Experience designing and implementing observability, monitoring, and alerting for services.
