About the position

The Principal Engineer Network Equipment role at Verizon involves leading a team responsible for integrating and provisioning advanced cloud network hardware at the SKYHI facility in Haslet, Texas. This position focuses on ensuring the successful delivery of network solutions that support Verizon's 5G Cloud Network and the FAA contract. The role requires strong financial management skills, as the engineer will oversee a significant capital budget while fostering a high-performing team that meets customer needs and maintains operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of contract employees at the SKYHI facility to integrate and provision cloud network hardware.
  • Manage a capital budget of $150M to $250M, ensuring precise financial oversight and reporting.
  • Develop and implement a vision for the SKYHI operation to optimize productivity and results.
  • Ensure the team understands customer needs to deliver optimal technical designs.
  • Enhance the team's technical skills and product knowledge, ensuring certifications are maintained.
  • Motivate the team to deliver high-quality technical outputs and improve the SKYHI Portal.
  • Conduct periodic operations reviews to maintain production excellence.
  • Oversee the production management of network hardware assembly and integration lifecycle.
  • Lead program management for various aspects of the SKYHI operational model.
  • Manage the maintenance and testing of the SKYHI fiber network and integrate Verizon cloud hardware.

Requirements

  • Six or more years of relevant experience in network engineering or related fields.
  • Ability to perform physical requirements of the job, including lifting and climbing.
  • Valid driver's license.

  • Experience in hardware manufacturer management and business relationships.
  • Cloud network hardware assembly experience.
  • Experience managing scripting/code development teams.
  • PMP Certification or substantial course study in project management.
