About the position

The Principal Engineer Network - Network Virtualization Engineer III position at Northrop Grumman involves working on the Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program, which integrates the Missile Defense System. This role is crucial for enabling high-level defense operations and requires the candidate to support network build-out and deployments in an agile environment. The position is based in Colorado Springs, CO, and involves planning, deploying, integrating, and testing network upgrades to operational sites.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, deploy, integrate, and test upgrades to the C2BMC network to operational sites.
  • Travel to alternate work locations, such as Schriever Space Force Base, to execute job duties such as deployments and network installations.
  • Independently perform troubleshooting and provide status updates to Program personnel.
  • Work collaboratively in a team environment with other network engineers and independently on large field projects.

Requirements

  • An active Secret clearance is required to start with the ability to obtain TS/SCI clearance.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in a related discipline with 5 years experience; 9 years experience instead of a degree or Master of Science degree in a related discipline with 3 years experience.
  • DoD 8140 certification at IAT Level II or higher (Security+, GSEC, SCNP, SSCP, CISSP, CISA, GSE, SCNA, etc.) is required to start.
  • Proven systems engineer with hands-on mid-level experience and knowledge of virtualization design, development, and testing methodologies.
  • Experience with VMware (vCenter), ESX servers, NetApp NAS/SAN, Windows servers, and SQL servers.
  • In-depth understanding of OSI Model, TCP/IP, Routing protocols, Network traffic analysis, and Diagnostic and troubleshooting.

Nice-to-haves

  • Current and active TS/SCI is highly desired.
  • Authentication & encryption methods/capabilities (ACS, Active Directory, GEM-X) are highly desired.
  • Familiarity with Networking and prior C2BMC experience.
