About the position

The Principal Engineer Networks - Network Engineer III position at Northrop Grumman involves supporting the Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program, which is integral to the U.S. missile defense system. The role focuses on planning, deploying, integrating, and testing network upgrades to operational sites, requiring collaboration within an agile scrum team to meet customer requirements and contractual agreements.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, deploy, integrate, and test upgrades to the C2BMC network to operational sites.
  • Travel to alternate work locations for deployments and network installations.
  • Independently perform troubleshooting and provide status updates to Program personnel.
  • Work collaboratively within an agile environment.

Requirements

  • An active Secret clearance is required to start with the ability to obtain TS/SCI clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline with 5 years experience; or 9 years experience instead of a degree; or a Master's degree in a related discipline with 3 years experience.
  • DoD 8140 certification at IAT Level II or higher (e.g., Security+, GSEC, SCNP, SSCP, CISSP, CISA, GSE, SCNA).
  • Proven network engineer with hands-on mid-level experience in network design, development, and testing methodologies.
  • Understanding of OSI Model, TCP/IP, and routing protocols (BGP, OSPF).
  • Experience in network traffic analysis, diagnostics, and troubleshooting.
  • Firewall experience, especially with Juniper, Fortinet, and Palo Alto.
  • Required experience in UDP multicast, SONET, MSPP, VLANs, GRE Tunnels, and TCP/IP network designs.
  • Hands-on experience with multi-vendor switching routing (Juniper, Cisco), WAN optimizers, TACLANEs, and optical transport equipment.
  • Effective communication skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office products, especially PowerPoint and Visio.
  • Understanding of standard DOD security practices such as STIG compliance and system accreditation implementation.

Nice-to-haves

  • Current and active TS/SCI clearance is highly desired.
  • Experience with Cloud Foundation, NSX, vSAN, and Aria.
  • Experience with network automation using Ansible.
  • Prior C2BMC experience.
