About the position

The position involves joining the High Volume BackEnd Hard Disk Drive Manufacturing team at Western Digital, focusing on the development of a flexible and abstracted platform for both Enterprise and Client applications. The successful candidate will work alongside software and firmware architects to design and implement Host Application software and Manufacturing Firmware features, utilizing advanced development tools and methodologies. This role emphasizes collaboration, project leadership, and the application of modern software development practices, including Machine Learning and Secure Drive technology.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the design and implementation of Host Application software and Manufacturing Firmware features.
• Develop requirements and drive projects from development to deployment while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
• Utilize advanced development environments and tools based on C++, Python, TCL, and Perl scripts.
• Organize tasks and deliverables efficiently for assigned projects.
• Develop validation/test plans and foresee test point needs ahead of feature design.

Requirements

• 6+ years' experience with embedded systems focusing on high-quality Software and Firmware design and implementation.
• BS or MS degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, or related curriculum.
• Experience programming embedded microcontrollers in C/C++ and assembly.
• Hands-on experience with script programming such as TCL, Python, and Perl.
• Experience using hardware debug instrumentation such as oscilloscopes and bus analyzers.

Nice-to-haves

• Knowledge of the SAFe Development process, specifically as a Product Owner or Scrum Master.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to perform problem analysis and speedy resolution using systematic methodology.
