About the position

The Principal Engineer, Systems Architecture - IAM at T-Mobile is responsible for developing and evolving technical network and service architectures, specifically in the areas of Identity and Access Management (IAM) and Network API exposure. This role requires a deep understanding of IAM technologies and the ability to lead teams in delivering complex architectural solutions. The engineer will also be involved in technical documentation, innovation, and providing technical leadership across the organization.

Responsibilities

• Develop and evolve technical network and service architectures for IAM and Network API exposure.
• Create, adapt, or revise detailed schematics of network and service architecture.
• Lead teams in delivering complex network and service architecture and design strategies.
• Conduct cost/benefit analysis of technology solutions and drive full business case analysis.
• Supervise base through senior level engineers as needed and present project improvement scenarios to management.
• Write advanced documentation on technologies, including architecture, capabilities, limitations, and advantages.
• Monitor and influence relevant industry technologies and standards, particularly in Network Security, Authentication, and Authorization.
• Evaluate new and existing technology options that support business goals.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Computer Science.
• 7-10 years of technical engineering experience.
• Deep understanding of Identity and Access Management technologies (OAUTH, OpenID, Fido) and associated security protocols.
• Ability to perform cost/benefit analysis of technology solutions.
• Strong technical writing skills and ability to communicate complex ideas to non-technical audiences.
• Self-motivated and able to work under pressure with minimal supervision.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Web Services (REST, JSON) and database design work.
• Knowledge of adjacent processes and workflows.
• Experience in leading cross-functional technical investigations.
