About the position

The Principal Engineer Technical Project Manager will oversee the Public Sector Federal Aviation Administration Enterprise Network Engineering Services (FENS) engineering team, managing the technology roadmap and ensuring timely and budget-compliant project delivery. This role involves collaboration with Product and Engineering teams to maintain project momentum and achieve desired outcomes, while also driving process improvements and organizational change.

Responsibilities

  • Program manage the roadmap for scaling technology and engineering processes for all FENS solutions.
  • Articulate resource needs to achieve program objectives and identify critical path issues and risks.
  • Provide effective communication to team members, senior leaders, and the broader organization.
  • Project manage core initiatives with complex dependencies that improve engineering experience and platform architecture.
  • Drive change in processes to enhance efficiency in delivering quality solutions.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans including charter, scope, work breakdown structures, and risk management plans.
  • Collaborate with PMO, resource managers, and technical staff to ensure project alignment with overall strategy.
  • Define and manage project risks, taking corrective actions proactively.
  • Direct and monitor daily work efforts, identify resource needs, and perform quality reviews.

Requirements

  • Six or more years of relevant experience in project management or military experience.
  • Advanced note-taking skills and task tracking ability across an organization.
  • Proven knowledge and experience in managing complex projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to manage a portfolio of work across multiple projects and teams.
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking in planning and managing teams and processes.
  • Accountability for all project management aspects and effective collaboration with delivery managers.
  • Skillful use of interpersonal skills to accomplish work without formal authority.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills for collaboration with executive stakeholders.
  • Strong experience in facilitating project team meetings and ensuring alignment with stakeholders.
  • Sound judgment and problem-solving skills in selecting methods for obtaining solutions.
