About the position

As a Principal Engineer on the Cybersecurity team, you will serve as a lead, architect, consultant, and subject matter expert on various business-driven projects related to or involving security architecture. Every day you will work with Information Security, Software Development, and Devops/Infrastructure teams in a rapid CI/CD environment to ensure that Shipt establishes and maintains a secure software development and deployment lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate transparently and effectively across all departments and lines of business to solve security problems and support business-driven initiatives.
  • Challenge the status quo, navigate conflict, and influence without authority.
  • Demonstrate leadership and executive communication skills, showcasing strong business acumen.
  • Identify, validate, and resolve security vulnerabilities and control gaps in Shipt's cloud infrastructure hosted in GCP, deployment pipelines, and applications.
  • Contribute to the architecture, development, and continuous improvement of core security-related components within Shipt's applications.
  • Represent information security in technical architecture and engineering design reviews across the organization.
  • Partner in building a comprehensive identity and access management platform.
  • Build software applications that run in production using programming languages such as Golang, Ruby, C, C++, Java, or Python.
  • Mentor and learn from other engineers.

Requirements

  • Experience in executive communication and strong business acumen.
  • Deep understanding of edge computing patterns and Fastly's core WAF products.
  • Proficiency in identifying and resolving security vulnerabilities in cloud infrastructure and applications.
  • Experience with commercial and custom security controls such as Burp, Qualys, and Wireshark.
  • Ability to build software applications in production environments using various programming languages.
