About the position

The Principal Engineering Technician will provide technical and public relations assistance to the Department of Energy's Defense Related Uranium Mines (DRUM) programs. This role involves daily coordination with NAMLRD Engineers and focuses on project development, planning, and execution of Verification and Validation (V&V) activities, including environmental assessments and data collection.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical and public relations assistance to DOE - DRUM programs.
• Assist with project development, planning, and execution of Verification and Validation (V&V) activities.
• Conduct inventories, GIS mapping, and environmental assessments.
• Analyze and interpret environmental conditions and reports.
• Ensure compliance with Navajo Nation, Federal, and State laws and regulations.
• Write daily reports and maintain documentation of activities.

Requirements

• An Associate's degree in Computer Science or related field.
• Three years of senior engineering technician work experience, with one year in a supervisory or management capacity.
• Knowledge of scientific and environmental data interpretation.
• Familiarity with standard operating procedures for field sampling and safety.
• Excellent writing and communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Navajo speaking ability is a plus.
