About the position

The Principal Equipment & Systems Engineer at Collins Aerospace Aerostructures will specialize in high temperature pneumatic valves and their integration into aircraft engines and nacelles. This role involves managing design and qualification processes, leading investigations into technical issues, and serving as a key contact for suppliers and customers. The position requires strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across various departments to ensure technical alignment and customer support.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the requirements, design, and qualification of pneumatic high temperature valves and anti-icing systems.
  • Lead root cause investigations into technical issues for ball joints, latches, hold open rods and other nacelle structural components.
  • Communicate with suppliers, external customers, and senior leadership regularly to discuss technical issues and resolution.
  • Visit suppliers as required for process improvements, product enhancements, failure investigations and testing.
  • Lead system architecture, supplier selection and technical assessment for new programs.
  • Establish and mature relationships across departments for technical alignment, problem resolution and customer support.
  • Communicate and make presentations to senior level leadership.

Requirements

  • Requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience.
  • U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or granted refugee or asylee status) as defined by local laws.
  • Experience with FAA air worthiness qualification testing.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge regarding turbine engines including compressor stages and bleed air.
  • Experience working in a cross functional group of engineers.
  • Experience with high cycle fatigue testing and analysis.
  • Experience with RTCA DO160 testing.
  • Understanding of LEAN/Continuous Improvement.
  • Experience with aerospace control systems.
