About the position

The Principal Field Applications Engineer at Emerson plays a crucial role in demonstrating technical expertise and professional engineering skills while serving key accounts. This position requires a balance of technical leadership, interpersonal skills, and customer-facing experience to build trust and influence the technical direction of target accounts. The engineer will collaborate with internal teams and customers to develop and execute technical strategies that align with customer needs and the company's technology roadmap.

Responsibilities

  • Build key technical relationships at top accounts to enhance customer confidence in NI-Emerson.
  • Understand and assist in the creation of customer technical requirements.
  • Provide recommendations on software architectures and hardware to ensure customer success.
  • Collaborate with Account Managers to lead the development and execution of account technical strategies.
  • Coordinate efforts with internal technical partners to fulfill account technical initiatives and capture insights for improvement.
  • Identify and address customers' future technical needs to generate increased demand for NI-Emerson products.

Requirements

  • BS degree or equivalent experience in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics).
  • 5 years of proven experience in a relevant field.
  • 3 years of programming experience.
  • 2 years of experience in RF Fundamentals and Measurements.
  • US Citizen or US Person.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with LabVIEW, TestStand, and the PXI platform, including developer certifications.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Confirmed experience in RF Fundamentals and Measurements, Software Engineering concepts, and Automated Measurement Systems.
  • Advanced skill in at least one programming language: LabVIEW, .NET, Python, C++, C#.
  • Advanced skill in FPGA development using VHDL or LabView FPGA.
  • 2 years of experience in a customer-facing role.
