About the position

The Principal Field Application Engineer (FAE) at Supermicro will play a crucial role in developing new opportunities in the global IT market. This position involves working closely with customers at all levels, managing projects in collaboration with internal and external teams, and focusing on customer and solution needs to drive business growth. The FAE will also be responsible for leading a team of FAEs, providing technical leadership, and ensuring customer satisfaction through effective problem-solving and solution integration.

Responsibilities

  • Recruits, leads and mentors team of FAEs in support of revenue growth at all assigned accounts
  • Utilizes solution architect and presentation skills to expand Fortune1000 account penetration and loyalty
  • Works closely with sales and extended teams to map end-user customer business and partner requirements
  • Provides technical leadership in Pre-Sales and oversees implementation of solutions
  • Engages effectively with C-level technical customers to gain and maintain trust
  • Solves technical problems with a strong understanding of system architecture, hardware, and software interaction
  • Manages and leads product hardware and software engineers during product development
  • Leads teams in investigating and resolving field problems
  • Understands firmware, drivers, OS, and applications interactions that can cause system issues
  • Develops and reviews systems solutions, technical bid responses, and presentations
  • Works cross-department to ensure customer satisfaction and timely issue resolution
  • Builds and demonstrates proof-of-concept that meets or exceeds customer business needs
  • Presents corporate brand, product messaging, and solutions to customers
  • Visits on-site facilities and operations to enable solution integration and issue resolution
  • Travels as required (up to 25%)

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering discipline; computer science, computer engineering, or electrical engineering preferred
  • Excellent communication skills and business sense required
  • Minimum 17 years of related experience with Compute/Storage Server or Data Center or IT Infrastructure
  • Strong background and experience with x86-based server architecture
  • Solid hardware system design and diagnostics skills
  • Familiarity with Firmware, Linux, Windows, and virtualization platforms is a plus
  • Strong technical communication and leadership skills to lead investigations with engineers of multiple disciplines
  • Ability to work effectively in a high-pressure environment
