About the position

BAE Systems, a global leader in the defense industry, is seeking a Principal Financial Analyst based in Radford, VA. In this role, you will support the Ordnance Systems Inc. (OSI) business's modernization portfolio, which encompasses a variety of construction, sustainment, and retrofit projects. Your primary responsibilities will include assisting the group and management in the planning, tracking, analysis, and reporting of projects that vary in contract types, sizes, and complexities. This position is crucial for ensuring that financial data is accurately reported and that projects are managed effectively to meet organizational goals. As a Principal Financial Analyst, you will interface with program management and operations on assigned projects, tracking all aspects of project creation, expenditures, and closeouts. You will handle revenue recognition and support month-end closing activities, ensuring that all financial records are accurate and up-to-date. Additionally, you will prepare monthly Cost Status Reports (CSR) and coordinate monthly meetings with each Program Manager (PM) to review program financial data. Completing monthly account reconciliations and supporting weekly salient flash updates will also be part of your responsibilities. You will be expected to complete all project accounting self-assessments and support internal audit and financial control framework testing. Preparing and reporting Quarterly Business Reviews (QBR) and Integrated Business Planning (IBP) salient forecasts, as well as entering forecast data into Hyperion, will be essential tasks. You will assist with the completion of risks and opportunities charts and support proposal processes, along with other ad hoc analysis, projects, and data requests. Applying cost accounting standards and federal acquisition regulation knowledge to your assignments will be necessary, as will managing multiple assignments and projects simultaneously. You will also be responsible for developing desktop procedures and leading process improvement initiatives, all while learning the company business to provide maximum value.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and 6 years of related work experience or equivalent experience
  • Ability to support Program Finance, Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), and familiarity with Earned Value Management (EVM)
  • Ability to provide analytics and reporting to support leadership decision-making
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to develop and maintain professional and effective relationships with internal and external customers
  • MS Office/Excel skills
