About the position

The Principal Financial Analyst at Abbott Laboratories plays a crucial role in supporting the Heart Failure Operations by managing financial tasks such as budgeting, workforce planning, and monthly financial closing activities. This position requires a high level of analytical skills and the ability to utilize financial systems for effective reporting and analysis. The analyst will collaborate with business partners to provide insights and support financial decision-making processes, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare financial budgets and workforce planning & analysis for Heart Failure Operations.
  • Assist with monthly financial closing activities and prepare journal entries.
  • Conduct detailed variance analysis and inventory reporting.
  • Provide analytical insights into budget variances and performance.
  • Prepare and distribute financial reports and packages based on current performance.
  • Partner with business to develop month-end analysis and commentary related to financial close cycles.
  • Support the business in the preparation of capital purchase requisitions.
  • Participate in ad hoc analysis and reporting as required by finance management.
  • Comply with FDA regulations and company policies.
  • Maintain positive communication and collaboration with all levels of employees and stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of finance experience with progressively more responsibility.
  • Experience utilizing finance software such as SAP, Hyperion/Essbase, or similar tools.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of balance sheet transactions and their impacts on the income statement.
  • Advanced computer skills including spreadsheet, word processing, and database management.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • In-depth knowledge and experience of GAAP.
  • Record of implementing new processes effectively and efficiently.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and with senior management.
  • Advanced credential such as an MBA, CPA, CMA, or CPIM designation.
