About the position

The Principal Financial Analyst at Puget Sound Energy is a key role within the Financial Planning & Analysis team, responsible for maintaining and enhancing proprietary financial models that support executive and board-level decision-making. This individual contributor position focuses on financial planning, modeling, and data integrity, while also promoting a culture of safety and compliance. The role involves developing advanced analytical tools, facilitating interdepartmental consensus on financial strategies, and communicating complex financial implications to stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Leads the process to update the annual valuation forecast and presents results to PSE directors and officers.
  • Participates in the annual creation of the corporate long-term valuation and facilitates the evaluation of the corporate mid and long-term financial plan.
  • Helps develop corporate financial strategy by interfacing with management and building consensus on modeling assumptions.
  • Develops comprehensive financial models and conducts various ad-hoc strategic analyses throughout the planning cycle.
  • Contributes to or leads the delivery of recommendations from quantitative and qualitative analyses, identifying opportunities and risks.
  • Develops consensus around analytical approaches and cultivates ties across business groups.
  • Produces presentations for finance management committees and the Board of Directors.
  • Improves forecast integrity by utilizing information resources, researching new metrics, and benchmarking.
  • Promotes best practices in modeling techniques, methodologies, controls, and documentation.
  • Instructs investor analysts on modeling PSE business activity.
  • Provides analytic direction to the business case team and summarizes results for decision-making.
  • Promotes accountability of financial assumptions and results across the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or related field.
  • Progressively responsible experience in financial analysis or related field.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with energy sector financial modeling.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and financial modeling software.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills.
