About the position

The Principal Financial Analyst at Rocket Software plays a crucial role in providing financial support to a specific Business Unit. This position involves delivering insightful financial analysis and reporting, supporting strategic planning, and driving cost reduction initiatives. The analyst will partner with key leaders to enhance business insights and improve financial processes, making it a key role within the FP&A team with opportunities for growth and development.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver monthly financial reviews to senior business and finance leaders, anticipating questions and advising on corrective actions based on financial insights.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the Business Unit's goals and objectives to analyze variances and provide insightful data analysis and scenario modeling.
  • Support the strategic planning process for the Business Unit.
  • Proactively partner with key leaders to refine or develop new OKRs or scorecards that drive organizational accountability and performance.
  • Drive and track cost reduction initiatives and assist with business case development and analysis for product prioritization decisions.
  • Support the finance cadence for monthly reporting, rolling forecasts, and the annual budgeting/planning cycle, ensuring timely communication of deliverables and facilitating reviews with senior leaders.
  • Seek opportunities to simplify reporting and delivery methods to improve efficiency and effectiveness of finance activities through automation.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 7-10 years of Finance experience.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of Financial Analysis experience.
  • Expert level of Excel knowledge, including pivot tables and complex formulas.
  • Experience with ERP and financial planning tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage tight deadlines and prioritize workloads with high accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work both strategically and at a detailed operational level.
  • Ability to explain concepts and processes to new team members.
  • Experience in moving from data gathering to focused analysis and compelling storytelling of key business drivers.
  • Ability to provide executive-grade accurate financial data focused on driving business decisions.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or MBA.
  • 5-7 years of experience in planning and analysis working closely with senior management.
  • Experience with Salesforce, Oracle ERP, Planful, APEX.
  • Experience working with engineering, sales, or business units.
  • Experience in the high-tech industry or for software companies.
