About the position

The Principal Financial Analyst position at Robert Half is a contract role focused on managing financial analysis within the regulated utility industry. The analyst will provide strategic insights to support decision-making and financial planning, ensuring financial integrity during month-end close and budget processes, while also contributing to regulatory compliance and operational cost effectiveness.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver strategic insights to steer decision-making and financial planning through rigorous financial analysis.
  • Analyze and interpret the company's financial structure, profitability, and competitive position using appropriate analytical methods and forecasting models.
  • Play a key role in the month-end close and forecast/budget processes to ensure financial integrity.
  • Support the execution of various projects by providing in-depth financial impact analysis on capital expenditure investments.
  • Enhance operational cost effectiveness and process improvements through financial analysis expertise.
  • Contribute to regulatory compliance by conducting financial analyses as demanded by management or regulatory bodies.
  • Provide financial analysis support and training to various company departments requiring these services.
  • Prepare and present detailed financial information to stakeholders at various levels using tools such as PowerPoint presentations.
  • Use expertise in business systems and data mining techniques to improve report processes and create meaningful dashboard metrics.
  • Utilize proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Power BI to manage accounting functions and perform ad hoc reporting.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience as a Financial Analyst or in a related role
  • Proficiency in Business Systems
  • Expertise in Data Mining Techniques
  • Familiarity with the software 'About Time'
  • Strong understanding of Accounting Functions
  • Experience in Auditing
  • Knowledge of Budget Processes
  • Skilled in Capital Management
  • Proven experience in Forecasting & Modeling
  • Ability to perform Ad Hoc Reporting
  • Experience in creating Dashboards
  • Understanding of Dashboard Metrics and Reporting Dashboards
  • Ability to maximize efficiency in financial operations
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Experience using Power BI for data analysis and visualization.
