About the position

The Principal Financial Markets Specialist at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago is responsible for leading research and analysis on complex topics related to securities, derivatives, and financial markets trading, with a focus on systemic risk. This expert-level role involves advising with minimal supervision, managing large-scale projects, and building relationships with stakeholders in the financial sector. The incumbent will prepare and deliver presentations, analyze market developments, and provide strategic advice on policy issues affecting domestic and international financial markets.

Responsibilities

  • Lead research and analysis on securities and derivatives, focusing on systemic risk.
  • Strategically analyze developments in trading, including high-speed and algorithmic trading, and regulatory changes.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations on financial markets and payment system issues.
  • Serve as a point of contact for financial markets trading and technology representatives.
  • Lead discussions on policy issues related to financial markets and provide strategic advice.
  • Participate and present at policy group and industry meetings.
  • Prepare papers, reports, and articles on industry studies and policy memoranda.

Requirements

  • Expert analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written communication, presentation, and editing skills.
  • Strong people and project management skills.
  • Expert knowledge of domestic and global financial markets and payment systems.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills for professional interactions with peers and senior management.
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
  • 7 years of related experience.
