About the position

The Principal Frontend Web Developer at BAE Systems is responsible for developing high-quality web applications as part of the Digital Architecture Team. This role involves building microservice cloud infrastructure and data collection software, utilizing modern technologies such as React.js, Next.js, and gRPC. The ideal candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable and efficient web solutions while adhering to team standards. This position requires US citizenship and the ability to obtain a Secret Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Develop high-quality web applications using modern web technologies.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement scalable solutions.
• Build and consume gRPC microservices and Protobuf.
• Utilize Docker and Kubernetes for containerized deployments.
• Implement state management using libraries like Redux or Context API.
• Document and track software defects using tools like JIRA.
• Participate in Agile/Scrum development processes.

Requirements

• 3+ years of professional experience in web application development.
• Proficient in JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3.
• Strong experience with React.js and its core principles.
• Solid understanding of Next.js framework and server-side rendering.
• Experience with building and consuming gRPC microservices and Protobuf.
• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, Helm charts, and containerized deployments.
• Proficient with GitLab and CI/CD pipelines.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with TypeScript.
• Familiarity with containerization tools like Docker and orchestration platforms like Kubernetes.
• Knowledge of continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
• Experience with GRPC.
• Understanding of authentication mechanisms like Keycloak.
