Kiewit Infrastructure Engineering is seeking a highly experienced Principal Geotechnical Engineer with seismic analysis expertise to join their interdisciplinary team. This role involves working collaboratively with geotechnical, structural, and roadway engineers, among others, to perform engineering analysis, design, and estimates for design-build projects. The position is part of a rapidly growing Infrastructure Design Department focused on innovative and cost-effective solutions for infrastructure projects.

  • Support the bid phase development of innovative and cost-effective design
  • Work within the pursuit team during the bid phase to identify key design risks and develop mitigation plans
  • Capture and spread design lessons learned knowledge to all Districts
  • Develop and spread design innovation knowledge to all Districts
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary engineering team and design subcontractors to ensure cost-effective design development
  • Train and develop junior engineers
  • Master's degree or PhD in Geotechnical Engineering
  • Registered Geologist and/or Geomorphologist
  • 20+ years of relevant geotechnical engineering experience with infrastructure transportation projects
  • Strong experience in seismic engineering
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer in the U.S
  • Strong academic knowledge of geotechnical engineering
  • Experience with design of retaining walls, support of excavation, earth retention, slope stability, rock mechanics, soft soils, ground improvement, deep foundations, shallow foundations, dewatering
  • Experience working in a team setting and directing the work of others
  • Excellent communication skills (both oral and written)
  • Strong people skills and ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment
  • Physical ability to access all points of a construction site in various climates and environmental conditions
  • Ability to travel to project sites
  • EPC or Design-Build experience
