About the position

The Principal Graphic Designer at First American is responsible for developing innovative print and digital solutions that enhance the company's brand and marketing channels. This role requires a blend of individual creativity and teamwork, with a focus on maintaining brand guidelines and delivering high-quality design work. The designer will engage in strategy discussions, present concepts to stakeholders, and mentor junior designers, all while working in a supportive and inclusive environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop innovative print and digital solutions for First American.
  • Create concepts, comps, layouts, and final art, ensuring they meet established deadlines.
  • Develop and standardize brand and design guidelines that reinforce the company's message and image.
  • Present concepts and design solutions to key stakeholders.
  • Maintain corporate identity, design standards, and policies.
  • Work closely with other designers, creative directors, outside agencies, and/or freelancers.
  • Create accurate price estimates and breakdowns while delivering solutions within budget and invoicing after the project is complete.
  • Train and provide art direction for junior designers.
  • Review work of less experienced graphic designers to ensure high quality.
  • May be required to perform duties outside of normal work hours based on business needs.

Requirements

  • Possess strong conceptual skills and a high level of sense of design, layout, and typography.
  • A broad thinker who can offer a variety of design solutions.
  • Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and with a team.
  • Expert-level proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
  • Expert-level proficiency in Figma.
  • Extensive experience with both print and digital design.
  • Experience creating content, including videos, through art direction, storyboarding, and editing.
  • Self-motivated; self-starter.
  • Experience managing projects with complex inter-dependencies, focusing on both long-range projects and immediate tasks.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • BS Degree in a business field or equivalent work experience.
  • 8+ years of related experience.
