About the position

The Principal Hardware Design Engineer at Raytheon is responsible for the design, development, integration, and support of Radar Receiver and Exciter systems. This role involves solving complex technical problems and providing innovative solutions in radar technology, focusing on architecture development, integration, and analysis of radar systems. The engineer will work closely with various subsystems and support signal processing algorithm definitions, ensuring the performance and reliability of radar systems throughout their lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Define requirements and flow from system to Receiver/Exciter level.
  • Develop Receiver and Exciter architecture.
  • Define interfaces between Receiver/Exciter subsystems and other subsystems.
  • Support signal processing algorithm definition based on Receiver/Exciter capabilities and system needs.
  • Resolve complex technical issues during design, integration, and testing of Radar Receiver and Exciter subsystems.
  • Process and analyze Radar Receiver/Exciter data to identify and resolve system performance issues.
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software issues.
  • Interface with customers regarding technical and program level status.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior work experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and a minimum of 5 years of prior work experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in Radar Receiver/Exciter system and subsystem analysis, design, and/or testing.
  • Experience with Radar Receiver/Exciter signal processing techniques and methods.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with RF chain design and analysis.
  • Experience with Radar Receiver/Exciter integration and testing.
  • Experience with IQ/signal processing analysis in Matlab, C/C++, Python, or other programming languages.
  • Experience in troubleshooting radar systems and implementing corrective actions.
  • Experience with Digital Signal Processing techniques and FPGA implementation.
  • Experience interfacing with internal and external customers to find technical solutions.
