About the position

The Principal Human Resources Specialist provides specialized professional human resources services for the Idaho Supreme Court, focusing on areas such as employee relations, performance management, compensation, job classification, recruitment, selection, and onboarding. This role operates with a high degree of independence under the supervision of the Human Resources Manager, contributing to HR initiatives and ensuring compliance with employment laws and court policies.

Responsibilities

  • Provides human resources consultation and policy interpretation on complex issues.
  • Advises managers and staff on employee relations issues and performance management.
  • Leads human resources initiatives and contributes to state-wide HR initiatives.
  • Implements HR projects and service initiatives, including supervisory training.
  • Researches human resources matters and prepares reports.
  • Manages the classification and compensation program as a subject matter expert.
  • Writes and reviews job descriptions and recommends appropriate compensation.
  • Responds to inquiries regarding employment law and court policies.
  • Develops improved managerial procedures for the Idaho Supreme Court.
  • Compiles and analyzes information on various HR topics and formulates recommendations.
  • Coaches and advises leadership on performance development.
  • Participates in investigations of employee issues and recommends outcomes.
  • Reviews disciplinary or termination documents.
  • Evaluates organizational policies and practices.
  • Researches and revises personnel policies for review.
  • Maintains policy manuals and provides advice on staffing issues.
  • Acts as the lead on Agility processes for the HR Division.
  • May participate in high-profile recruitment activities.
  • Provides guidance to HR Division staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management or a related field.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in human resources generalist duties, with in-depth experience in policy development and performance management.
