About the position

The Principal Industrial Engineer & Freight/Transportation Manager at OceanX LLC is responsible for leading efforts to optimize fulfillment, assembly, and industrial processes. This role focuses on enhancing throughput, reducing waste, and improving quality through the implementation of Lean Six Sigma principles and continuous improvement methodologies. The position also involves designing facility layouts, managing transportation logistics, and ensuring compliance with industry standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead efforts to optimize fulfillment, assembly, and industrial processes to enhance throughput, reduce waste, and improve quality.
• Implement Lean Six Sigma principles and continuous improvement methodologies to drive operational excellence.
• Identify opportunities for automation and technology integration to streamline production.
• Design and optimize facility layouts to improve workflow, minimize congestion, and enhance space utilization.
• Implement ergonomic improvements to enhance worker safety and productivity.
• Ensure efficient resource allocation, including labor, equipment, and materials, to support production goals.
• Collaborate with production teams to balance workloads and optimize resource utilization.
• Establish and maintain rigorous quality assurance and compliance processes within manufacturing operations.
• Ensure adherence to industry standards, safety regulations, and quality control procedures.
• Develop and implement transportation and logistics strategies to optimize freight movement, reduce costs, and enhance customer satisfaction.
• Evaluate and select transportation providers and negotiate contracts to meet service-level requirements.
• Oversee routing and scheduling optimizations to reduce transportation costs, improve on-time deliveries, and reduce environmental impact.
• Implement route planning and tracking technologies.
• Manage relationships with carriers and freight providers to ensure timely and cost-effective product deliveries.
• Oversee freight claims, shipment tracking, and carrier performance evaluations.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Operations Research, or a related field (or foreign equivalent).
• Five (5) years of experience in the job offered, Business Intelligence Analyst, Warehouse Management, Labor Management, Consultant, or another Logistics and Supply Chain-related occupation.
• Experience in industrial engineering, logistics management, and operations.
• Experience with logistics and supply chain optimization practices and technologies, including Power BI, Tableau, SQL, JIRA, Blue Yonder (Red Prairie/JDA), SQL, MS Access, and AutoCAD.
• Ability to align operational initiatives with business objectives.
• Knowledge of industry best practices in Lean Six Sigma, supply chain management, and sustainability initiatives.
