About the position

The Principal Instrumentation & Controls Engineer at Valdes Engineering Company is a leadership role responsible for managing project teams and ensuring the successful execution of engineering projects. This position requires strong technical skills in electrical design and the ability to mentor junior staff while maintaining high-quality standards in project deliverables. The engineer will also be responsible for client interactions and ensuring that projects are completed on time and within budget.

Responsibilities

  • Lead projects and project teams, managing project man-hour budgets and scheduling.
  • Mentor and assist staff in all aspects of electrical design, including I&C specifications and selection.
  • Supervise project staff to ensure engineering packages are completed on time and within budget.
  • Analyze, design, and produce engineering packages for clients, preparing instrumentation specifications for purchase.
  • Establish and maintain good business relationships with key client contacts throughout the project.
  • Ensure compliance with required design codes and establish design criteria for the team.
  • Interface with client engineering representatives and other discipline engineers on-site.
  • Review, check, and analyze design drawings prior to client submittals.
  • Ensure documents produced by team members meet internal and client quality standards.

Requirements

  • Strong technical skills in electrical design and instrumentation controls.
  • Experience in managing project budgets and schedules.
  • Ability to mentor and guide junior engineers and staff.
  • Extensive knowledge of design codes and engineering protocols.
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain client relationships.
