About the position

The Principal IT SAP Work Management Functional Analyst plays a crucial role in configuring, implementing, maintaining, and upgrading SAP Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) modules, specifically focusing on Plant Maintenance and Project Systems. This position is integral to the SAP Electric Ops Work Management Delivery organization, which provides essential IT services to the Electric line of business. The Functional Analyst is responsible for analyzing business requirements, creating functional design documents, and performing ERP system configuration and customization to deliver effective system solutions for both the Line of Business and IT organizations. In this role, the Principal Functional Analyst acts as a strategic partner and business liaison, facilitating technology decisions and providing ongoing support for the ERP system. This includes a thorough analysis of business requirements and the development of integrated IT solutions that address complex business challenges. The position requires a deep understanding of the current and future business environment, enabling the analyst to anticipate and meet business needs through the effective use of SAP S4 HANA capabilities. The role also involves defining standard processes within the SAP S4 enterprise asset management and work management modules, designing and implementing enterprise scheduling solutions, and optimizing SAP work management processes through third-party ERP systems. The Principal Functional Analyst must demonstrate the ability to analyze and design solutions independently, even for the most complex projects, while maintaining a broad knowledge of industry best practices for ERP implementations. This position is hybrid, requiring the analyst to work from the Oakland headquarters three days a week, collaborating closely with project teams to ensure successful delivery of technology solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Define standard processes in SAP S4 enterprise asset management and work management module.
  • Design solutions and implement enterprise scheduling dispatch solution for preventive and corrective work types with integration to enterprise asset management within SAP ECC/ or S4 HANA system.
  • Analyze end-to-end complex business processes in scheduling, dispatch, and field mobility across business functional areas and implement integrated solutions.
  • Understand in detail the current and future business environment of the business organizations; effectively anticipate, identify, and fully meet the business needs using an integrated approach leveraging existing and new SAP S4 HANA capabilities.
  • Identify, propose, and influence IT solutions to complex cross-organizational business problems utilizing ERP capabilities; negotiate requirements and deliverables across multiple business and IT customers and organizations.
  • Automate/optimize SAP work management processes through a third-party enterprise resource planning system.
  • Map business requirements to SAP S4 system capabilities and configure to meet requirements.
  • Review design and technical specification documents for alignment with business solution.
  • Perform complex configuration of SAP S4 system and do quality review and testing activities.

Requirements

  • 10 years of job-related experience in Information Technology.
  • 8 years of experience as a Functional Analyst in Enterprise Asset Management and Plant Maintenance in SAP ERP system.
  • First hand experience in implementing an enterprise scheduling solution (for e.g., ClickSoftware or SalesForce Field Service Lightning) with integration to Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) within SAP ECC and / or S/4 HANA.
  • Hands on experience in implementing an enterprise mobility platform (for e.g., SAP Service and Asset Manager or ABB / Ventyx Service Suite mobile) with integration to Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) within SAP ECC and / or S/4 HANA.
  • Experience in SAP compatible units; configuring and setting up the master data of SAP compatible units and assemblies and using CUs to create SAP designs.
  • Experience in mobile platforms for capital construction projects including redlining and documentation of as built vs. as designed.
  • Extensive participation in projects of high complexity or simultaneous participation in multiple projects of medium to high complexity in a leading role.

Nice-to-haves

  • MA/MS in Computer Science/ Information Systems, Business, Engineering, or equivalent work experience.
  • Proficiency and hands-on experience on SAP S4 Hana, Plant Maintenance, EAM (enterprise asset management module), Intelligent Asset Manager, Oracle P6/Primavera, or similar tools such as Infor EAM, Maximo.
  • Gas and / or Electric utility industry experience.
  • Exposure to writing business requirements documents, software specifications or preparing business process flows.
