About the position

The position involves leading production support engineering for medical devices, focusing on testing methods, device specifications, and yield problems. The role includes project management responsibilities, engineering support for manufacturing operations, and the development of process improvements using Lean Six Sigma methodologies. The engineer will also be responsible for documentation, cross-functional team leadership, and ensuring compliance with regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for production support engineering concerning testing methods, procedures, and problems.
  • Manage device specification and yield problems, including minor redesign of devices and masks.
  • Analyze customer returns and supplier-related engineering changes.
  • Optimize device production relative to cost constraints.
  • Assist customers with device usage problems or customer testing of complex devices.
  • Project management including tracking financials, updating stakeholders, and coordinating resources.
  • Provide engineering support to manufacturing operations and address quality issues on the production floor.
  • Guide engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements.
  • Define and generate all required documentation supporting manufacturing protocols and reports.
  • Form and lead cross-functional teams to resolve high-profile production issues.
  • Develop and implement process improvements through Lean Six Sigma methodology.
  • Design and develop equipment and fixtures to improve processes and support lean manufacturing.
  • Design manufacturing processes, procedures, and production layouts.
  • Inspect the performance of machinery, equipment, and tools to verify efficiency and initiate corrective actions.
  • Develop manufacturing processes that apply to statistical process control.

Requirements

  • Requires a Baccalaureate degree.
  • Minimum 7 years of manufacturing engineer experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Mechanical, Electrical or Electromechanical Engineering Degree
  • Experience in manufacturing project management
  • Experience in medical device manufacturing
  • Working knowledge of SAP, BI
  • Working experience with supplier relations
  • Understanding of technical documentation and procedures
  • Knowledge of drafting standards, fixtures, and tooling
  • Experience with capital project budgets including forecasting and quoting
  • Experience with equipment, facility, and process validations
  • Working knowledge and experience in Lean and Six-Sigma methodologies
  • Technical writing skills
  • Strong statistical skills using Minitab.
