About the position
As a Manufacturing Methods Engineer at Collins Aerospace, you will play a crucial role in providing manufacturing and processing support for component parts. Reporting to the Manager of Manufacturing Engineering, your responsibilities will include optimizing manufacturing processes, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. This position is essential for maintaining product quality and enhancing operational efficiency within the aerospace sector.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical skill in manufacturing areas to plan, design, set up, modify, optimize, and monitor manufacturing processes.
- Maintain continuous process improvement with safe work practices to reduce cost, improve quality, and increase throughput for new and existing methods.
- Ensure compliance with EH&S and government regulations, maintaining product and company reputation.
- Provide shop floor support and assist with Root Cause Corrective Action(s) (RCCA Process).
- Prepare, maintain, and revise Manufacturing Process Sheets (MPS's), Assembly Process Sheets (APS's), and Work Order Cards (W.O.C.) in CATIA V5 and SAP.
- Support and/or participate in Continuous Improvements (C.I.) Events and ACE activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned, including meeting all requirements under ITAR and CGD.
Requirements
- Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience, or in absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience.
- U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee or asylee) or eligible to obtain necessary export authorizations required.
- 5 or more years' experience in manufacturing - Surface Finishing, Machining, Paint, and Assembly.
- 5 or more years analyzing and interpreting engineering drawings, general business, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- 3 or more years' experience using C.I. tools with the ability to analyze and improve processes to reduce cost.
- 3 or more years' experience using CAD software.
- 2 or more years' experience with robotics integration.
Nice-to-haves
- Six Sigma and/or ACE Associate training would also be considered an asset.
- 3 or more years presenting information and responding to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers is required.
- 3 or more years writing reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals preferred.
- 3 or more years experience with CATIA V.
- 3 or more years managing large CAPEX projects.
- Current or previous experience with SAP.
