About the position

As a Principal Mechanical Design Engineer specializing in Static Equipment at Honeywell, you will play a pivotal role in addressing some of the world's most significant challenges through innovative engineering solutions. You will be part of a dynamic team at UOP, a Honeywell company, which is renowned for its leadership in hydrocarbon processing technologies. Your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of activities, including leading the design and engineering of static equipment, managing project resources, and ensuring the successful execution of large-scale projects valued at over $300 million. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including process engineers, project managers, and vendors, to deliver high-quality engineering solutions that meet customer requirements and industry standards. In this role, you will be responsible for supervising all technical activities within the Static Equipment group, which includes design engineering, requisitioning, vendor drawing reviews, and inspection activities. You will also be tasked with mentoring and coaching junior engineers and contract service workers, ensuring they are well-equipped to support project execution. Your expertise will be critical in the design and thermal rating of pressure vessels, heat exchangers, and tanks, adhering to international codes such as ASME, TEMA, and API standards. You will utilize advanced design software, including Compress and PV Elite, to perform mechanical and thermal design calculations, ensuring that all equipment meets the stringent requirements of the refining and petrochemical industries. As an industry expert, you will actively contribute to ASME Code Committees, driving advancements in process and equipment technologies. You will also be responsible for developing internal design standards and documentation, fostering a culture of continuous improvement within the Static Equipment domain. Your role will involve presenting training sessions for both internal teams and external customers, enhancing their understanding of static equipment design and operation. With the ability to travel up to 10% worldwide, you will engage with global teams and clients, further solidifying Honeywell's reputation as a leader in engineering solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise all technical activities of the Static Equipment group.
  • Provide design engineering, requisitioning, vendor drawing, calculation review, fabrication support, and inspection activities for static equipment.
  • Manage resource planning and supervise static equipment global members and contract service workers.
  • Serve as Lead Equipment engineer for Mega Projects valued at over $300M, overseeing all static equipment.
  • Collaborate with global team members from various disciplines such as Process, Piping, Instrumentation, CAD-design, and Project Management.
  • Design and detail engineering of pressure vessels, heat exchangers, and tanks according to international codes.
  • Conduct thermal rating and mechanical design of heat exchangers for refinery and petrochemical plants.
  • Contribute as an active member of an ASME Code Committee to enhance process and equipment advancements.
  • Develop and present training for internal and external customers.
  • Support quality audits of new vendors for the supply of Static Equipment.

Requirements

  • Bachelors of Science Degree in Engineering
  • 15+ years experience in Static Equipment Design and Engineering
  • Expert level knowledge of ASME Section VIII D1 & D2, TEMA, and API requirements related to Vessel Design.
  • Active ASME / API Code Committee Member
  • Expert level experience in the design and selection of Static equipment including experience with Compress/PV-Elite or similar design software.
  • Expert level experience in the design and selection of heat exchangers.
