About the position
The Principal Mechanical Design / Research & Development Engineer is responsible for designing and developing new products while also making significant improvements to existing products. This role involves assessing user needs, ideation, rapid prototyping, concept selection, design and process development, characterization, testing, and statistical analysis.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop new products and improve existing products.
- Conduct user needs assessments and ideation sessions.
- Create rapid prototypes and select concepts for further development.
- Develop designs and processes for product manufacturing.
- Characterize and test products, performing statistical analysis on results.
Requirements
- Exceptional mechanical design skills on complicated mechanisms and systems.
- Minimum of 12 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree in Engineering; or 10 years with a Master's degree; or a PhD with 7 years of experience.
- Design experience using injection molding, stamping, metal injection molding, springs, and related fabrication processes.
- Expertise in SolidWorks.
- Mastery of all phases of product development including design verification, validation, implementation, and manufacturing.
- Demonstrated history of products successfully reaching the marketplace.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Familiarity with ISO 13485, MDR, and FDA QSR.

- Process Design experience.
