About the position

As a Principal Mechanical Engineer - Controls and Actuation at Raytheon, you will play a pivotal role in developing technical solutions for a diverse array of moving element challenges. This includes critical areas such as aerodynamic steering, thrust vectoring, attitude-and-divert maneuvering, and the pointing and stabilizing of missile systems and subsystems. Your responsibilities will encompass the practical application of mechanical engineering principles to address complex system problems, collaborating with cross-discipline teams, and developing comprehensive requirements. You will engage in concept development, trade study evaluations, and perform structural and thermal analyses, among other tasks. This position not only allows you to apply your technical expertise but also provides the opportunity to grow into a leadership role overseeing a major hardware subsystem on a specific program. Responsibilities

  • Develop technical solutions for moving element challenges in missile systems and subsystems.
  • Apply mechanical engineering principles to solve complex system problems.
  • Collaborate with cross-discipline teams to achieve project goals.
  • Develop requirements and comprehension for various engineering tasks.
  • Engage in concept development and trade study evaluations.

  • Lead a major hardware subsystem on a specific program.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and 8 years of prior mechanical engineering experience, OR an Advanced degree in a related field and 8 years' experience.
  • Experience with actuation drive systems and bearing configurations.
  • Experience with electromechanical control actuation systems.
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance.
  • Experience with Systems or Mechanical Engineering of servo controls.
  • Knowledge of control actuation systems and feedback control systems.
  • Familiarity with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
