About the position

As a Principal Mechanical Engineer at Westinghouse, you will play a crucial role in supporting the company's mission to provide clean energy solutions. This position is based in Cranberry Township, PA, and involves a variety of engineering tasks primarily focused on Environmentally Assisted Fatigue (EAF) and Metal Fatigue. You will be responsible for performing engineering tasks in support of the WESTEMS program, which is a fatigue aging management software designed for monitoring plant transients and conducting fatigue analysis. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include developing site-specific WESTEMS models, processing data from operating plants to develop transient cycle counts, and providing ongoing customer support for the WESTEMS software, including installation, training, and user group meetings. In addition to supporting the WESTEMS program, you will also engage in License Renewal and Subsequent License Renewal Projects, focusing on Time-Limited Aging Analyses (TLAAs), Metal Fatigue, and EAF. This will involve identifying TLAAs, reviewing plant data to identify past transient occurrences, and performing EAF screening evaluations. You will utilize ANSYS software to develop finite element models and perform detailed stress and fatigue evaluations per ASME Code Section III Subsection NB-3200 criteria. Your role will also require interfacing with external customers to define project scope and resolve comments on documents, as well as providing consultation to address NRC questions and requests for additional information. Westinghouse Electric Company values its employees and recognizes their contributions to the company's success.
