About the position

The System/Commissioning Engineer will provide technical support in the Engineering Services department for the Salem Power Uprate Project. This role is critical in ensuring the successful implementation of power uprate modifications for Salem Units 1 and 2. The engineer will be responsible for assessing the required scope of work and exploring various alternative solutions for the necessary modifications. This includes sponsoring plant modifications through the plant approval process and fulfilling the role of the system lead engineer for these modifications. The engineer will ensure adequate systems integration and act as a subject matter expert for plant systems. In addition to these responsibilities, the engineer will support changes to the Preventive Maintenance and Surveillance Program, identify critical spare parts, and assist Operations and Maintenance with technical procedural changes. The role also involves preparing and supporting factory and plant startup testing, interfacing with the Project Manager to ensure that engineering deliverables align with overall project goals, and providing field support during modification walkdowns, installation, testing, and as-built verification. Compliance with regulatory requirements, including 50.59 and License Amendment Request preparation, is essential. The engineer will also perform other assigned duties as determined by the Engineering Manager and may have assigned duties in the Emergency Response Organization.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and/or support factory and plant startup testing.
  • Interface with Project Manager to ensure that Engineering deliverables meet the overall project goals.
  • Provide field support during modification walkdowns, installation, testing, and as-built verification.
  • Comply with regulatory requirements including 50.59, License Amendment Request preparation and any required supporting analysis.
  • Perform other assigned duties as determined by the Engineering Manager.
  • Assigned duties in the Emergency Response Organization.

Requirements

  • BS Degree in Mechanical, Civil, Controls or related Engineering or related technical degree with 13 years of experience performing related Engineering work in a nuclear power plant or related industry.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in mechanical system engineering.
  • Availability for shift work during installation.
  • Must meet Nuclear requirements for unescorted plant access.
  • Must possess a valid US driver's license and maintain a satisfactory driving record.

Nice-to-haves

  • Power uprate experience at a pressurized water reactor (PWR).
  • Thermal performance modeling and monitoring experience.
  • Professional Engineering license (NJ or other state).
