About the position

The Principal Mission Management Equipment Responsible Engineer at Northrop Grumman is responsible for the design, integration, and testing of mission management equipment, focusing on computer and electronics systems for mission processing and data storage. This role involves collaborating with engineers and stakeholders to ensure that subsystems meet mission objectives, while also managing technical relationships with suppliers and partners. The position requires a strong background in engineering, particularly in networking and cybersecurity, and is pivotal in shaping the future of advanced technological systems.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret, allocate, tailor, write and flow down requirements to all levels of a system architecture
  • Design and develop computer and network architectures, perform hardware integration and testing, and requirements analysis
  • Conduct trade studies, document subsystem architectures, analyze performance, and evaluate Technology Readiness Level (TRL) regarding supplier products
  • Document designs using detailed schematics, diagrams, and specifications
  • Collaborate with engineers and program stakeholders to integrate mission management subsystems
  • Manage technical relationships with program strategic partners and suppliers
  • Develop supplier documentation, performance-based specifications, and statements of work
  • Build supplier evaluation criteria and conduct technical evaluations
  • Review supplier development documents and support technical interchange meetings and design reviews

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline and 5 years of related experience, or a Master's degree and 3 years of experience, or a Ph.D. with no experience
  • Active DoD Secret clearance that is in-scope
  • Ability to obtain Top Secret clearance
  • Demonstrated experience in Ethernet-based networking design, including IP address planning, switching, and routing
  • Working knowledge of cybersecurity and Risk Managed Framework (RMF)

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD Degree in Computer or Electrical Engineering
  • DODD 8570 certifications such as CompTIA Security+ or CISSP
  • Knowledge in Ethernet based avionics bus interfaces and integrated avionics systems
  • Experience with authentication and data encryption methods
  • Experience with embedded systems and Unix/Linux operating systems
