About The Position

As a Principal Narrative Writer at Riot Games, you will collaborate closely with Creative Directors and other Narrative Writers to craft compelling narratives for new champions and skinline thematics in League of Legends. Your role will involve driving narrative direction, ensuring quality in written content, and maintaining consistency across the League IP. You will also mentor other writers and contribute to the overall narrative vision of the game, enhancing player experiences through high-quality storytelling.

Requirements

• 8+ years of professional industry experience
• 5+ years experience in game writing, and at least one other narrative medium (e.g. prose, VO, comics, interactive stories, etc)
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Experience delivering quality work in partnership with other creative disciplines
• Experience with creating content for translation into other languages.

Nice To Haves

• Familiarity with the League of Legends intellectual property, and its current range of narrative expressions
• Experience with the creation of story and game content within existing IPs, for game product releases or in direct support of them
• Experience delivering timely, clear, and actionable Narrative craft feedback
• Experience in formal mentoring or management
• Experience working on a live game.

Responsibilities

• Work with Creative Direction to confirm and align the Narrative direction, in collaboration with appropriate stakeholders.
• Execute world-class narrative craft for in-game VO and written content to the agreed direction, quality standards, and schedule.
• Manage and communicate progress with your team and with stakeholders.
• Maintain good working relationships with stakeholders and product teams.
• Help to drive improvements to Riot Games' global multi-language processes (including sensitivity consideration).
• Advocate for narrative craft consistency by communicating Writing & Editing discipline efforts, sharing best practices, and contributing as an active community member.
• Mentor other Narrative writers in creating consistent, high-quality content.
• Participate in Narrative craft reviews and provide feedback to other members of the team.
