About the position

The Principal Network Design Architect will serve as the subject matter expert in network design, engineering, and architecture, focusing on routers, switches, servers, gateways, and security functions. This role is pivotal in enhancing the network environment, ensuring that technologies meet performance, security, and scalability requirements. The architect will implement and maintain network designs across various disciplines and best practices, while also providing technical guidance and mentoring to other engineers.

Responsibilities

• Act as the subject matter expert on design, engineering, and architecture issues related to networks.
• Lead efforts to enhance the network environment from a networking perspective.
• Implement and maintain network designs across multiple disciplines and best practices.
• Provide 1st to 3rd line support to clients within a specialist engineering team.
• Manage projects through the full systems engineering lifecycle from concept exploration to in-service support.
• Troubleshoot networking issues and drive improvements in the networking and virtualization ecosystems.
• Define and monitor Service Level Objectives (SLOs) and Service Level Indicators (SLIs).
• Design proactive monitoring, alerting, and incident management processes.
• Develop network solution designs to meet complex customer requirements.
• Contribute to architectural documentation for high- and low-level system designs.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring for other engineers and technical architects.
• Engage with technical stakeholders including clients, peers, and vendors.
• Stay updated with evolving networking technology and industry standards.
• Be available for on-call service to troubleshoot complex network issues.
• Advocate for Network Operations in RFP reviews and architecture planning.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
• 10+ years of experience in network architecture, design, and implementation.
• At least 5 years in a leadership role or as a principal network architect.
• In-depth knowledge of networking protocols and technologies (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, etc.).
• Experience with network virtualization, software-defined networking (SDN), and cloud networking technologies.
• Strong understanding of network security principles and best practices.
• Juniper/Cisco Certifications are required.
• Relevant industry certifications (e.g., CCIE, CISSP, AWS Certified Solutions Architect) are a plus.
