GDIT is seeking a Principal Network Engineer to support the JSP ETM program at the Pentagon in Arlington, VA. This role is critical in advancing the Department of Defense's mission to ensure national security. The Principal Network Engineer will be responsible for designing, planning, and building communications networks that are essential for the operations of the largest government agency in the nation. Due to the sensitive nature of the work, telecommuting is not permitted, and the employee will be required to work full-time onsite. In this position, the Principal Network Engineer will configure routers, switches, and firewalls for both LAN and WAN systems, as well as VPN concentrators, ensuring that all configurations adhere to appropriate network engineering and communications protocols. The role involves coordinating hardware and software improvements for LAN/WAN systems, monitoring the network using industry-leading technologies, and providing innovative methods and technical solutions through the engineering design process. The engineer will also analyze customer requirements to deliver technical solutions for complex problems and perform maintenance and upgrades on various network components, including servers, routers, switches, and firewalls. Maintaining network integrity and compliance with policies is paramount, as is ensuring system backup and recovery capabilities. The Principal Network Engineer will coordinate the acquisition of necessary hardware and software, as well as subcontractor services, and will be responsible for creating plans and configuring systems for data communication networks. Staying current with relevant technologies and evaluating new communications technologies to enhance network capabilities are also key responsibilities. Additionally, the engineer will provide guidance and leadership to less-experienced network personnel, fostering a collaborative and knowledgeable team environment.
