GDIT is seeking a Principal Network Engineer to help support the JSP ETM program at the Pentagon in Arlington, VA. This role is critical in advancing the Department of Defense's mission to keep our country safe and secure. The Principal Network Engineer will be responsible for designing, planning, and building communications networks that are essential for the operations of the largest government agency in the nation. Due to the nature of the work, telecommuting is not allowed, and the employee will be required to report full-time onsite. In this position, the Principal Network Engineer will configure routers, switches, and firewalls for LAN and WAN systems, as well as VPN concentrators, ensuring the implementation of appropriate network engineering and communications protocols. The role involves coordinating hardware and software improvements for LAN/WAN systems, monitoring the network using industry-leading technologies, and providing innovative methods and technical solutions through the engineering design process. The engineer will also analyze customer requirements and deliver technical solutions to a wide range of complex problems. Maintenance and upgrades of networks, including servers, routers, switches, firewalls, and remote access systems, will be a key responsibility. The Principal Network Engineer will maintain network integrity and connectivity while ensuring compliance with policies and maintaining system backup and recovery capabilities. Additionally, the role includes coordinating the acquisition of necessary hardware and software, as well as subcontractor services, and evaluating new communications technologies to enhance network capabilities. The engineer will also provide guidance and leadership to less-experienced network personnel, fostering a collaborative and knowledgeable team environment.
