About the position

The Principal Network Engineer position at Raytheon involves supporting and maintaining real-time system applications in a 24x7 operational environment. The role requires expertise in network configuration and management, particularly in critical network environments, and emphasizes collaboration within a diverse team to enhance complex systems.

Responsibilities

  • Perform operation and maintenance (O&M) of real-time system applications.
  • Troubleshoot network architecture, including interfaces and firewalls, and recommend enhancements.
  • Assist in the design, upgrade, and implementation of network infrastructure.
  • Set up and maintain network equipment such as switches, routers, and firewalls.
  • Conduct updates, patching, and baseline changes to comply with Information Security requirements.
  • Work off-hours as needed to support 24x7 operational systems.
  • Travel up to 5% as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 5 years of network administration experience, or 9 years of direct experience without a degree.
  • Experience in network configuration and management, including Cisco ASAs, routers, and switches.
  • Knowledge of multilayer switching and VLANs.
  • Active Top Secret/SCI with CI Poly security clearance required prior to start date.
  • U.S. citizenship is required for security clearance eligibility.
  • Active DoD 8570 IAT Level 2 certification (or higher) on start date.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a structured configuration-controlled environment focused on real-time systems.
  • Experience with 24x7 operational systems.
  • Familiarity with external services for DNS, NTP, etc.
  • Ability to formalize and develop requirements, plans, and procedures based on customer interactions.
  • Experience in developing system-level designs and data interfaces.
  • Knowledge of CISCO Spine-Leaf network topology/architecture.
  • Understanding of network protocols such as TCP/IP, Multicast, and UDP.
