About the position

As a Principal Platform Engineer at Spectrum, you will lead the design, execution, and ongoing support of mission-critical platforms that enable reporting, analytics, and engineering needs across the organization. This role involves overseeing the design and implementation of critical initiatives, coordinating the development of infrastructure, and ensuring the platforms support millions of active users with high reliability and performance. You will be responsible for troubleshooting complex issues, implementing security measures, and advocating for data governance while collaborating with various teams to enhance the customer experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and implementation of mission-critical platforms.
• Oversee the development of infrastructure supporting multiple organizations.
• Ensure uptime and uphold SLAs for the platform.
• Design, implement, monitor, enhance, and troubleshoot infrastructure and APIs.
• Identify bottlenecks and bugs, and devise solutions to these problems.
• Implement security measures and advocate for data governance.
• Diagnose complex issues and execute the best resolution.
• Collaborate with business and technical teams to deliver quality results.

Requirements

• 8+ years of software development experience (JavaScript, TypeScript, Java, Python).
• 6+ years of exposure to SQL and non-relational databases.
• 6+ years of experience in a cloud-based platform engineering role.
• Bachelor's Degree in computer science or equivalent experience.
• Extensive understanding of code versioning tools such as Git.
• Extensive knowledge of Computer Science fundamentals (object-oriented design, data structures, algorithm design).
• Extensive experience with building cloud-based, highly-automated, near real-time data processing platforms.
• Demonstrated in-depth problem-solving skills, especially in complex systems.

Nice-to-haves

• 2-4 years working as a data scientist or in a modeling and analytics role.
• 2-4 years in a DevOps role, or building and deploying infrastructure to monitor applications.
• 2-4 years in a role leading technical teams.
• Master's Degree or equivalent experience with design, architecture, and leadership.
