About the position

The position involves providing technical leadership in the design of power electronics controls for power conversion systems. The candidate will focus on hardware, firmware, and software, particularly in control algorithms. Responsibilities include developing control architecture to meet customer requirements, creating dynamic simulations for analyzing and designing control systems, and specifying control algorithms for software implementation in power converters. The role also requires implementing and testing algorithms to demonstrate performance, authoring requirements and test plans, and interfacing with sales and marketing to evaluate technical feasibility of customer requirements. Additionally, the candidate will provide technical expertise to support current products and assist in the development of new products.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership in the design of power electronics controls for power conversion systems.
• Develop control architecture of power conversion systems to meet customers' requirements.
• Develop dynamics simulations of power conversion systems for analyzing and designing control systems.
• Specify and design control algorithms for software implementation in power converters for customer applications.
• Implement and test algorithms to demonstrate and document performance to requirements.
• Author requirements and test plans pertaining to the dynamic controls of power conversion systems.
• Specify control components and power electronic components for customer's applications.
• Interface to sales and marketing for generation specifications and evaluating technical feasibility of customer requirements.
• Provide technical expertise to support current products and in the development of new products.

Requirements

• Minimum: BSEE
• Preferred: MSEE or PhD in power electronics controls
• Minimum: 3 to 5 years' experience in a similar position
• Preferred: 5 to 10 years' experience
• Strong technical background in power electronics, control systems, power converters, electric utility power quality analysis, or systems integration of high power electronics
• Significant design experience in control systems for power conversion equipment.
• Experience in using commercial control system and power electronics simulation and analysis tools (MATLAB/Simulink and PLECS preferred).
• Excellent customer interaction capability.
• Excellent computer skills (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
• Strong oral and written communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills.
• Ability to author technical documents and proposals.
• US Citizen or Permanent Resident.
