About the position

The Principal Process Control and Automation Engineer (I&C) at Eli Lilly will play a crucial role in the startup of a new advanced manufacturing facility in Lebanon, Indiana. This position focuses on providing continuous support for automation platforms, troubleshooting process interruptions, and enhancing the performance of automation systems. The successful candidate will contribute to the safe design and operation of new equipment, ensuring compliance with GMP standards while fostering a culture of safety and innovation within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Provide continuous support for automation platforms, including troubleshooting process interruptions and diagnostics of field devices.
  • Ensure safe design and operation of new equipment, reflecting safety concerns for operations and maintenance.
  • Partner with colleagues to enhance automated systems and equipment performance.
  • Conduct solution assessments and performance reviews to verify efficient operation of automated systems.
  • Manage tools and implement engineering standards, master specifications, and best practices.
  • Provide technical coaching and consultation to other engineers and facilitate shared learning forums.
  • Support projects and the integration of new equipment/technologies into the manufacturing workflow.
  • Stay current on external trends and practices to evaluate technology for application within Lilly.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Technology, or a related field.
  • 8+ years' experience in Industrial Equipment Control, API Manufacturing Process control, Utilities Automation, or Environmental Control Systems.
  • Experience troubleshooting Instrumentation and control integrations.
  • Strong problem-solving skills in measurements, control systems, integration, and data.

Nice-to-haves

  • Demonstrated ability to work safely.
  • Experience with two or more automation platforms, preferably Delta-V and Rockwell Automation Systems.
  • Knowledge of sensing field instrumentation (Temp, Hum, Diss Oxy, PH, RH, Pressure, Flow, etc.) and acting instrumentation (Valves, Relays, etc.).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of GMPs and pharmaceutical manufacturing.
  • Knowledge in Microsoft Operating System.
