About the position

The Principal Process Engineer at Bechtel Corporation will lead a team of process engineers in developing process designs for various projects and studies, particularly in the mining and metals sector. This role involves providing technical leadership, interfacing with clients to understand their needs, and contributing to business development efforts. The position requires a strong background in the minerals industry, especially with lithium and rare earths, and offers opportunities for site-based work and international assignments.

Responsibilities

• Lead a process team on studies and projects.
• Develop and check the process deliverables typical of detailed engineering, such as design criteria, mass & energy balances, process flow diagrams, equipment sizing calculations, P&IDs, and control philosophy.
• Coordinate with other engineering disciplines, procurement, construction, vendors, consultants, subject matter experts, and client teams to deliver the project successfully.
• Contribute to the review and optimizations of project design, cost, safety, constructability, and schedule.
• Meet with potential clients, understand their business needs and drivers, and help develop new business with these clients.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or master's degree in Metallurgy, Minerals Processing, or Chemical Engineering with 13-15 years of relevant experience, or 17-19 years of experience in the minerals industry in lieu of a degree.
• At least 10 years' experience as an engineer working in detailed design in the minerals industry, including direct experience in developing detailed engineering deliverables.
• Experience with lithium and/or rare earths.
• Well-developed skills in teamwork, communication, and problem-solving, with proficiency in English.
• Skills and experience in business development and client engagement.
• Significant experience and contacts within the North American mining industry.
