About the position

The Principal Process Engineer will lead a team of process engineers in developing process designs for projects and studies within the Mining & Metals sector. This role involves providing technical leadership, interfacing with clients to understand their needs, and developing cost-effective solutions. The position also includes opportunities for business development and proposal support, with a focus on lithium and rare earths experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead a process team on studies and projects.
• Develop and check the process deliverables typical of detailed engineering, such as design criteria, mass & energy balances, process flow diagrams, equipment sizing calculations, P&IDs, and control philosophy.
• Coordinate with other engineering disciplines, procurement, construction, vendors, consultants, subject matter experts, and client teams to deliver the project successfully.
• Contribute to the review and optimizations of project design, cost, safety, constructability, and schedule.
• Meet with potential clients to understand their business needs and drivers, and help develop new business with these clients.
• Work closely with the Business Development team to provide technical input into proposals.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or master's degree in Metallurgy, Minerals Processing, or Chemical Engineering.
• 13-15 years of relevant experience or 17-19 years of experience in the minerals industry in lieu of degree.
• At least 10 years' experience as an engineer working in detailed design in the minerals industry, including direct experience in developing detailed engineering deliverables.
• Lithium and/or rare earths experience.
• Well-developed skills in teamwork, communication, and problem-solving.
• Proficiency in English is essential.
• Skills and experience in business development and client engagement.
• Significant experience and contacts within the North American mining industry.
