About the position

The Principal Product and Process Development Engineer at Sealed Air is responsible for driving innovation and development in packaging solutions, focusing on Rollstock, Fluid & Medical applications. This role involves leading cross-functional teams to deliver sustainable and cost-effective product solutions that align with corporate strategy, while also exploring new business opportunities and maintaining partnerships with external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Drive and execute new product development projects for Rollstock, Fluid & Medical applications via innovative polymer/material formulations.
  • Discover and explore new business, unmet market needs, and technology opportunities in partnership with Business teams and technical experts.
  • Develop and leverage external partnerships to monitor the state of the art and drive innovation.
  • Design and execute formulation and processing trials at lab, pilot, and production scale.
  • Effectively lead cross-functional teams of technicians and engineers throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Identify and pursue potential IP opportunities.
  • Support Business, Supply Chain, and Quality teams to resolve quality issues and other business maintenance activities.
  • Monitor competitive and regulatory landscape and make proactive recommendations.
  • Identify and pursue potential environmental sustainability opportunities.
  • Partner with project management for monthly reporting, project expense tracking, and timeline development.
  • Incorporate principles of Design for Manufacturing into new product development and transition technology to the Supply Chain organization.

Requirements

  • BS, MS, or PhD in Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science & Engineering, or Materials Engineering.
  • 3-6 years of industrial and/or research and development experience in polymer processing or development of polymeric materials.
  • Solid understanding of structure-process-performance relation of polymeric materials.
  • Strong presentation skills, including the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Evidence of good judgment and decision-making skills in complex situations.
  • Creative and resourceful, able to pull together necessary tools and people to get the job done.
  • Ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Project management experience and ability to lead cross-functional teams.
