About the position

The Principal Product and Process Development Engineer at Sealed Air Corporation is responsible for driving innovation and development in non-shrink materials, focusing on creating sustainable and cost-effective product solutions. This role involves leading cross-functional teams, managing product development projects, and collaborating with various stakeholders to meet market needs and corporate strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Drive and execute new product development projects for Rollstock, Fluid & Medical applications via innovative polymer/material formulations.
  • Discover and explore new business opportunities and unmet market needs in partnership with business teams and technical experts.
  • Develop and leverage external partnerships to monitor state-of-the-art technologies and drive innovation.
  • Design and execute formulation and processing trials at lab, pilot, and production scales, ensuring alignment with other functions.
  • Lead cross-functional teams of technicians and engineers throughout the product development lifecycle, managing trial logistics and budgets.
  • Identify and pursue potential intellectual property opportunities.
  • Support business, supply chain, and quality teams to resolve quality issues and other maintenance activities.
  • Monitor competitive and regulatory landscapes and make proactive recommendations.
  • Identify and pursue potential environmental sustainability opportunities.
  • Partner with project management for monthly reporting, expense tracking, and timeline development.
  • Incorporate Design for Manufacturing principles into new product development and transition technologies to the Supply Chain organization.

Requirements

  • BS, MS, or PhD in Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science & Engineering, or Materials Engineering.
  • 3-6 years of industrial and/or research and development experience in polymer processing or development of polymeric materials.
  • Solid understanding of structure-process-performance relation of polymeric materials and polymer processing techniques.
  • Strong presentation skills, capable of breaking down technical concepts for non-technical audiences.
  • Evidence of good judgment and decision-making skills in complex situations.
  • Creative and resourceful, able to mobilize necessary tools and people to achieve goals.
  • Effective communication skills across all organizational levels.
  • Project management experience and ability to lead cross-functional teams.
